Important message to the NihonBox community: the end of the NihonBox adventure

After more than a decade of discoveries and sharing our passion for Japan with fans from all around the world, NihonBox is preparing to say goodbye. The June boxes will be the last ones.

This has been an extremely difficult decision for us to make. For years, the team has fought hard to keep bringing you a little piece of Japan despite all the challenges we faced. But today, the time has come for us to close this chapter.

NihonBox started as a beautiful adventure in France back in 2015, with the goal of introducing Japanese culture as a whole while placing a strong focus on pop culture. Very quickly, the enthusiasm surrounding the project exceeded all our expectations. At the end of 2015, we moved to Japan to dedicate all our energy to the project. NihonBox kept growing, just like our team, driven by the fast-paced rhythm of the boxes and our constant desire to find even more treasures to share with you.

A few years later, YattaJapan was launched as a side project alongside NihonBox. Originally imagined as an extension of our universe, the website allowed us to offer even more Japanese products, licenses, figures, collectibles, and everyday items directly imported from Japan. Through YattaJapan, we were able to continue sharing our passion in a different way and build an even larger community around Japanese culture.

Starting in 2019, with the COVID crisis and the many disruptions that followed, the situation gradually became more difficult. Shipping costs increased, shipping services became less reliable, and product prices also rose significantly. Despite these hardships, the team held on and did everything possible to keep NihonBox and YattaJapan alive for as long as we could.

Unfortunately, we have now reached our limits. Continuing would mean constantly increasing the price of the boxes and products, which would go against our goal since day one: making a little piece of Japan accessible to as many people as possible.

A huge THANK YOU to the thousands of people who trusted us and supported us throughout this incredible journey. Without you, NihonBox would never have existed, nor lasted for more than 10 years.

The June NihonBox and SoKawaii packs will therefore be the last ones. All services related to NihonBox and YattaJapan will come to an end at the end of June 2026.

All pre-orders placed on YattaJapan, including products scheduled for release after the official closure of the website, will of course still be honored and shipped normally.

We would also like to inform you that due to new customs regulations coming into effect in Europe starting July 1st, 2026, packages shipped from Japan can no longer be guaranteed to arrive without import taxes and customs fees, despite all the efforts and solutions we have implemented over the years to limit these costs as much as possible for our customers.
